When first arriving on Queen Street in the summer of 2008, I was brought in to create a web site for Historic Niagara, that profiled the many businesses they were in the process of revitalizing. Interestingly enough we developed a 3D fly through of Queen Street which exists in our library today, a snap shot of where the project was at that moment in time, a moment in history. The site was built using various modules and components that could represent this grass roots movement as the community it was working hard to develop. I look fondly at this snap shot because I remember exactly the Dare Devil Day's event where we showcased Youtube talent Jesse Stutsman. Rod Standish and I tapped on the shoulder of a young man working hard to be a musical star, and drop shipped him in the middle of the festival to produce his very own video single.
I also remember standing in line for my first Niagara Falls Santa Claus Parade, how proud we were to see the thousands of people on the street that would see such a change in their downtown.
It is a familiar site to me now, the view of St. Patricks guiding you down Queen Street towards Victoria Avenue; however this 3D snapshot is no longer an indication of how far we have come in the past year, nor does it reflect the many people that now stroll down it's beautiful street.
