I have over 14 years in business development; with a focus on how current technologies can refresh and launch your business forward in the great race to get customers.
My current focus is one of my favourite projects so far, albeit frustrating, long hours and extremely demanding, I have to say, in the end, it turns out to be the most satisfying. In a day and age when everyone wants instant gratification, this project is it. The revitalization of Downtown Niagara Falls is an aggressive push to not just reinstate its original vibrancy from the 1950’s but to redefine its position in the world, as an arts, culture and entertainment district with a 21st century attitude. Rich with art, unique experiences, creative architecture and trendy techno saavy undertones Downtown Niagara Falls reinvents itself to the world.
The biography of Downtown Niagara Falls isn’t unusual, it was the place to be, it is was where Christmas presents were bought, the place you recall buying your wedding dress, or the place where you remember stealing your first kiss in the balcony of the local theatre. In every real life story there is always a point where adversity rears its ugly head. Malls and big box stores became the demise of this beloved downtown, and within a couple of decades the area not only became destitute it also became a dangerous place to be. The once beloved downtown of the community was now a place of embarrassment and was left to decay until one major property developer took an interest in the area. The interesting thing about that sort of phenomenon is; when you start to put life into desert, you see it instantly!
The project has absolutely amazing stats. As of the beginning of 2010 thirty three businesses have been opened in the past 14 months, an amaz
ing accomplishment when you consider that the businesses had to be recruited, the buildings renovated, interiors and exteriors designed and executed; including staff hires, training and product set up. What is also interesting to mention is that many businesses are completely brand new, infact almost 1/2 of these businesses never existed before. This means that the revitalization is now incubating brand new businesses at a 48% success rate. Additionally, many businesses moved here and added or completely overhauled their whole look and expanded their products portfolio; 27% of the businesses revitalized their businesses. Plus a minimum of 85 new jobs were brought to Niagara Falls.
